Required Qualifications

- Doctorate in nursing.
- Unrestricted/unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge and ability to conduct clinical research.
- Experience teaching in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- All knowledge and clinical experience to teach and supervise undergraduate or graduate students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to work with others in a team.
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
- Excellent communcation skills, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of the principles of teaching and learning.

Summary of Job Duties

Essential Duty

Teach assigned nursing courses and supervise student clinical experiences. Evaluate students’ progress in course work and clinical experiences. Complete all administrative aspects of courses taught. Maintain office hours as required by teaching load but not less than six (6) hours per week. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum. Serve on College and University committees. Initiate and participate in scholarly activities at the local, state, and national levels. Provide service to the community through participation in the planning and presentation of various programs focused on promoting the increased well being of the community. Implement, evaluate, and facilitate the use of simulation, new technologies and innovative programs to enhance the teaching/learning process. Facilitate internal systems for conducting outcome measurements/assessments.
